SMART BOWEN® offer a range of training programs from a basic Introduction course through to a full Diploma.

Whether learning Bowen Therapy as a smart professional career move or for those interested in helping family members to stay active and healthy, is only a decision that you can make, regardless of which choice, the fact remains that the rewards of learning this wonderful modality will be countless!

It does not matter at what level your interests lay, or what led you to this page, most importantly is that you got to this point and you now have the life changing opportunity to become involved with one of the most rapidly expanding industries within the Complimentary Health arena.

Government Accredited Training Programs

Both of the following two training programs present all of the competency requirements from the BTFA Nationally Registered Diploma of Bowen Therapy.

Diploma of Bowen Therapy

This program is available to anyone who chooses to undertake training to become a Professional Bowen Therapist.

There are no pre-requisites for entry other than a desire to learn Bowen to a professional standard.

Students attend a total of eight intensive training seminars varying between two and three days duration.  The program is delivered over a 12 month time frame with students completing a series of case studies and workbooks between the intensives.  Through-out, students are being continually accessed on their practical and theory knowledge.

Completion of an appropriate human anatomy and physiology course (see Forms) is required, as is the successful completion of senior first aid and eight common competency units that meet the Health Training Package.  (Some of these are available through Smart Bowen Pty Ltd)

Qualified persons may obtain membership with the Bowen Therapist Federation of Australia Inc., carry Public & Products Liability & Indemnity Insurance and obtain Provider status with nominated Health Funds.

Certificate IV of Bowen Therapy

This program is available to anyone who chooses to undertake training to become Professional Bowen Practitioner.

Professional Human Bowen Therapists and Practitioners are only permitted to work on people.   Please note that to treat outside of what is indicated may void insurance coverage.
Qualified, registered and insured Professional Human Bowen Therapists may do a bridging course to gain qualifications in Small Animal Bowen Therapy.  This is a 3 day program (dependent on course participants) and is called a “Post Graduate”.

Professional Human Bowen Therapists wanting to qualify in Equine Bowen Therapy will have to complete the entire equine program.  Cross referencing of some units of study may shorten the course down, and reduce the overall investment.

As a Registered Training Organization SMART BOWEN® can process applications from other schools of Bowen Therapy for recognition and or upgrading to Diploma status.  For further information please contact the head office or go to Forms and download the appropriate file.


Non - Accredited Training Programs

Introduction to Smart Bowen Therapy

This program is available to anyone who has an interest to learn more about Bowen Therapy, but may be unsure of their intention to pursue a professional path.   The two day intensive seminar is the starting point to both the Diploma and Certificate IV programs, there for if the student chooses to proceed forward with further training they would have undertaken the first unit of study.

This is a great seminar that leaves the participant satisfied that questions have been answered, whilst learning some fundamental Bowen moves and procedures.

Home User

This program is also available to anyone who has an interest to learn more about Bowen Therapy, but may be unsure of their intention to pursue a professional path.  The program consists of three, two day seminars that make up the first three units of study to both professional programs.  The course is designed to give the participant an opportunity to explore Bowen Therapy further before committing to a professional program or remaining at the Home User level.

Many people want to learn about Bowen to be able to treat their family members for some common complaints.  These units of study will provide the student with valuable knowledge and skills to treat family members for a range of common complaints and for the maintenance of health and wellbeing.
