Maggie Wright has recently joined the team of Smart Bowen Therapy instructors bringing with her years of experience from the business management world. Maggie has been in professional practice in Bowen Therapy for several years in the eastern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia. Maggie has gained her ‘Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training’ and will be presenting the Smart Bowen Therapy for People Diploma program in Adelaide.
Laura Bird has a passion for Bowen Therapy gaining qualifications in both the human and equine streams. Laura runs a very busy professional practice in Serpentine, Western Australia. Laura has a ‘Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training’ and qualifications in Human and Equine and Small Bowen Therapy enabling her to teach in both areas. Laura holds a ‘Certificate in Equine Massage’ and an Upledger Institute ‘Certificate of Introductory Equine Cranial Sacral Therapy’.
Helen Anderson specializes in small animals at present although she is now branching out into equines. She runs a busy practice treating dogs, cats, horses and more with qualifications in kinesiolgoy, Small Animal Bowen, homeopathics, crystal essences to name a few. She enjoys competing her own dogs in agility, obedience and herding. Helen has studied a wide range of additional subjects as well. Helen is teaching the Small Animal Programs in NSW
Jennifer Taylor is a very experienced Bowen Therapist from the western suburbs of Perth. Jen has studied several interpretations of Bowen Therapy and other forms of complementary health. She holds a ‘Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training’ and is experienced in the delivery of training in this field. Jen will be delivering most of the Smart Bowen Therapy for People, Diploma of Bowen Therapy program in Western Australia.

Debbie Perry has been in professional Bowen Therapy practice treating people, horses and small animals for quite some years, and has studied with several differnt schools in Bowen Therapy, and several other complementary health care modalities. Debbie has also competed her ‘Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training’ and is presenting the People Smart Bowen Therapy training programs in Queensland.
Allan Edwards is a very experienced Bowen Therapist and Instructor for SMART BOWEN® Therapy in New Zealand. Allan qualified in Bowen Therapy in 1993 and has been in professional practice since then at Pukekohe. He has been a Smart Bowen Instructor since 2002. Allan holds a Certificate of Adult Teaching and a Certificate of Adult Education in New Zealand, along with an Advanced Certificate of Massage, and is a qualified NLP Master Practitioner. Randy Barber learnt Bowen Therapy while living in Australia. Now a resident of Nottingham in
the UK, Randy sought out SMART BOWEN® Therapy, and encouraged Brian to go to the UK to teach his Advanced techniques in 2003. Lea Smart is a Co-Director of Smart Bowen Pty Ltd and Principal Instructor for the Equine and Small Animal SMART BOWEN® Therapy training programs. Lea has an extensive history working with animals holding formal qualifications as an Animal Technician, Veterinary Nurse and Animal Homeopath. She also has a ‘Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training’. When not teaching the Bowen courses throughout Australia and overseas, Lea and Brian are in clinical practice at the Smart Bowen Therapy Clinic in Lancefield, Victoria. Here they treat people, horses and small animals with Bowen Therapy and Lea also treats animals with Homeopathics. Whislt being an instructor for Brian since 2001, Lea joined the company in 2003, during this time she continued to develop the animal Bowen programs with many hours of extensive research and clinical application.
Brian Smart is a Co- Director and CEO of Smart Bowen Pty Ltd. SMART BOWEN® Therapy is Brian’s interpretation of the human Bowen technique he learnt in 1992 that was based on the work of the late Thomas Ambrose Bowen (1916 – 1982) of Geelong in Victoria, Australia. Brian’s qualifications include a Diploma of Remedial Massage, Certificate in Trigger Point Therapy, Bowen Therapy, and Advanced Life Support Ambulance Officer and ‘Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training’. Brian began developing SMART BOWEN® Therapy for Small Animals not long after first learning the technique on people. Then during 1997/98, with the aid of a friend, Brian researched and developed the original SMART BOWEN® Therapy for Horses.
